A few days left to vote for #shedoftheyear
Here are all the finalists for Shed of the year 2023, you have until 13 July to cast your vote.
Hot on the heels of a scorching weekend spent in our gardens, the shortlist for Cuprinol Shed of the Year 2023 has been announced – giving 26 lucky Brits another reason to celebrate their outdoor spaces!
Another year of stiff competition saw shed enthusiasts across the country battling it out for this year’s top spots. The shortlist features everything from understated and wallet-friendly creations, to maximalist designs with no expense spared, which have been painstakingly narrowed down from 209 inventive entries to just 26 sheds. These smart ‘Sheddies’ are now officially in the running to win the competition’s best prize yet: £1,000 in cash and £250 worth of Cuprinol products.
Entrants had the opportunity to enter two new categories this year – Simple but Effective and Colourful – as well as the usual Budget, Cabin/Summerhouse, Nature’s Haven, Pub/Entertainment, Unexpected/Unique and Workshop/Studio classifications.
Each year, three submissions are chosen from each category for the shortlist, but with particularly strong entries in the Simple but Effective, Unexpected/Unique and Workshop/Studio categories this year, four sheds have been selected from each.
Head Judge and Founder of the competition, Andrew Wilcox, remarks on the innovation shown in this year’s submissions: “We’re now in the 17 th year of the competition, and each year I am always surprised and delighted by the level of creativity shown by our entrants.
“Many have taken inspiration from last year’s winner, Kelly Haworth, and shown how they can create something masterful from reclaimed materials and on a budget. Equally, we have seen a lot of people go all out in an effort to build gorgeous garden escapes for them and their family. It really is too close to call this year: I’d be happy to see any of them win!”
Marianne Shillingford, Creative Director at Cuprinol, loved seeing this year’s colourful entries roll in: “My world revolves around colour, and seeing how people have been using it to transform their outdoor spaces has been really inspiring. Colour does a lot to calm, energise, and bring people together, and I am constantly in awe of how these creative sheddies harness its power to create the perfect outdoor space.”
