This weekend is the perfect time to enter Shed of the year 2024 - from the youngest to the oldest sheddie
Behind the shed #61
So we have added a new “category” for Shed of the year 2024 - Young Sheddie of the Year.
Young people (18-25) can enter their sheds in a competition, regardless of how they use them (work, play, relaxation).
So now the competition celebrates sheds built by families across generations.
Contact me, If you want to change the category of your entry for 2024 to this new category?
When you enter your shed into the competition, You can now add multiple ages to your details (only for internal use), so if lots of people of all ages use/build your shed you can now add it.
If you have not added your age, then contact me.
BTW Entry for Shed of the year closes on May 31st 2024
Shed of the Year Needs Your Help!
We're aiming to upgrade to a lightning-fast web server and move over 36,450 amazing shed photos to the cloud. This means a smoother browsing experience for everyone! A huge thank you to the "Sheddies" who've already supported us.

Shed Note
There are about a half a dozen sheddies who have not sent any photos over yet - if you can do that ASAP (when the weather gets nicer) so then I can promote your sheds on here & social media and of course officially be entered into this year’s competition !

Pym House 4 - Workshop/Studio - Kent #shedoftheyear owned by Sheddie Clive Wilson
"The most special feature of this shed is that it is mainly made from recycled and salvaged materials. Some of the structural wood has been used in four different structures over the past 30 years. It has a solar system for energy efficiency.
At 22.5m2 it is very large and is used as my carpentry workshop as well as a garden room with a cosy corner. It has three 2m2 double glazed windows salvaged from a demolition site, a clay tile roof salvaged from a local roof renewal, and the floor, ceiling and walls are insulated with offcuts mainly sourced from the insulation of the warehouse at the Greenpeace headquarters in London.
The floor covered with laminate flooring salvaged from a building site and the car boot of someone about to throw it away at the local dump. The cupboards are all salvaged from kitchen replacements."
The Ptolemaic Press
- Workshop/Studio - Wiltshire #shedoftheyear owned by Sheddie Philip McMullen
"The Ptolemaic Press is a private (i.e. not commercial) printing press publishing hand-crafted publications on vintage equipment housed in a bespoke, colourful log cabin nestled beside a small orchard in a Wiltshire garden.
We specialise in letterpress printing short print runs of magazines and occasional poetry, typically two to three titles per year. Letterpress is on the endangered list of heritage crafts - there are very few practising private presses left in the UK (owner Phil McMullen is a member of the British Printing Society, the Oxford Guild of Printers as well as a member of the guild of Heritage Crafts)
There are actually four presses - the largest weighs well over 10 hundredweight (around 550 kilos) and is 100 years old, and there is a large collection of mostly metal type (plus some wood type as well) and associated equipment, including a book press, all of which weighs several tons. This meant the floor had to be specially strengthened and supporting ground screws set under the base."
